We're still here, right? I know that my non-Veronica Mars life has gotten in the way, but I fully intend to watch 11 episodes later this week so that by the time the schedule calls for discussion of the season one finale on the 26th I'll be ready. :) (And I do have things to say about the finale, but I'm keeping my mouth tightly shut for now.)

Are the new-to-VM folks still around? How do you like the show so far?

ninamazing pointed me to an awesome interview with Kristen Bell yesterday, and here's the link if anyone else wants to read it. It's not at all spoilery for VM (but they do talk about it, among her other projects), but it just shows how cool Kristen Bell is.

I may have been a totally crap mod over the past couple of weeks, but I am going to make it up to you all starting NOW, with this collection of some of the best lines in this week's episode. 1x16 "Betty and Veronica" charmed the hell out of me when I first saw it, and as always, the script was a HUGE part of that. This episode is mostly about Veronica and Keith as she struggles to deal with the fact that her biological father might be Jake Kane. There's also this little side thing going on where some 09er joins a cult, but really, even that's about Veronica and Keith.

So ... I hope everyone's been keeping up with the schedule. I have to admit that last week I was four episodes behind and watched disk two of season one in one go, and that I just watched "Drinking the Kool-Aid" tonight.

I just thought I'd make a few observations...

The way Neptune appears to be a real high school. The recurring characters are pretty consistent, and it seems like the supporting students appear in at least two episodes throughout the course of the first two seasons. For example, Dick and Beaver -- currently just members of Logan's group, but their roles expand as the season continues (the last episode of season one, if you weren't aware or haven't noticed, is called "Leave it to Beaver", which implies that he does something important...) Shelly Pomroy hosted the party where Veronica lost her virginity, and she's the student who gets in a tizzy about Pirate Points in "Return of the Kane". Not to mention a few other students that have just made their first appearances, such as Mac, Meg, and Meg's sister Lizzie. I love that we don't meet neccessarily different students in each episode, but they might be members of certain cliques that we just haven't seen before

My very favorite episode, "An Echolls Family Christmas", is scheduled for this week, and you should watch it for the following reasons: my birthday is Friday, it has Weevil in it, and it turns out that Veronica can play poker like one of the guys.

I know this is late, but I'm hoping to sneak this review in before it's time for the next ep. *iz sneaky*

Warning: I am part of the worst scourge in the VM fandom. I...am a LOGAN FANGIRL!

Please, try not to hold that against me. ;)

This episode really hooked me on his character because before I was wondering why he was there, why he was such a jackass & why he was a main character. Sure, he has good lines and smirks and a lot of people like the 'bad boy' image. But that didn't make me LIKE him. I had to empathise with him and this episode made that connection for me. (Now, how far you can stretch the excuse for his behaviour is another discussion.) Point is: this made me sit up and give him more of a character death than "psychotic jackass".

So, it wasn't really a CASE of the week - but I like that it was the MYSTERY of the week. I like when V takes on stories just because she wants justice served, not because someone is paying her (Go investigative journalism!). Also, I think this might be the first time she's done that since Wallace.

A lot of stuff kicks ass on Veronica Mars -- the cinematography, the acting, that fantastic old-school Chrysler LeBaron ... but if you're anything like me, what keeps you veritably enslaved to this show is the writing. And while a big part of that is the masterful mystery arcs, there are also giant handfuls of snappy lines in each episode. Let's vote on our favorite from this week's "Return of the Kane"!

1x04 "The Wrath of Con" is one of my favorite, favorite episodes. ( Spoilery explanation of that statement. ) But nothing I say will ever top the greatness of the episode itself, so you might as well just rewatch it. TONIGHT!!!! :D

I'm TRYING not to spoil anyone past future episodes. So this should be safe to read if this is your first time watching the series.

This episode could be called "Meet Veronica's Swift Judgment" because she slams that justice gavel down faster than cats running to milk. It's early in the series and things are still black and white. Mom = bad. Dad = good. Lilly = saint. Absent Dad = deadbeat.

That's not to say that she's unfeeling and close-minded, she has sympathy for Julia (Justin's Dad) and for Duncan (although I think she lets Duncan get away with a lot). She even forgives Justin after he lied to her.

This episode doesn't give the viewer many clues toward Lilly's murder - Veronica finally brings up the fact that they both know Lianne was at the Camelot two weeks ago, but nothing comes of it. In Duncan's dream, Lilly says that "the truth will come out" implying that something about the case is wrong. But there isn't really anything important learned that I remember. So this episode is more about showing character growth (and the Case of the Week)

SWEET! I get to do the first post on episode 2!
So here it is guys, the famous (or infamous) Paris Hilton episode. Does anyone know if R.T created Caitlin Ford based on paris, or if it was just that her acting skills were a little underdeveloped and her real personality shone through. Either way Caitlin bugged me.... but i don't know if thats because i have a hard time seeing Logan with anyone different
I think my favourite scene in this episode is the flashback car scene. I love Lilly's comment - " Well you know what my mom says - you have to kiss a few toads...........thats it, thats her entire philosophy." - that girl cracks me up. I also love the friendship developing between V and Wallace, i personally believe that he thawed Veronica's heart just before the frostbite set in. If he hadn't of showed up when he did i don't know if she would have cared about anything other than Lilly's murder, all the other people with problems wouldn't really have mattered to her as much . I think Wallace gave her back her sense of empathy.

I don't think I've ever seen a pilot that drew me in as much as this one. i can still rememeber the first time i saw it, i was like- "YES! - NEW FAVE SHOW ALERT! Veronica is without a doubt my all time favourite TV character, closely followed by Lilly Kane (even though we never got to see nearly enough of her) . The fact that Veronica got through everything that happened to her in one peice would've been enough to make me love this show, but the fact she got through it all, and came out the other side as this super awesome champion of the people is a god damn inspiration to every one that lifes ever crapped on. Oh another thing that this pilot gave to the world - the best dog's name EVER!!!! If i ever get another dog i'm so calling him Back-up. i also love how almost all the important players in the series are introduced in the first episode. I was thinking about it last night and I think the only important people we don't SEE in this episode are Mac and Aaron Eccles. Can anyone else think of somebody i forgot? ahhh and now as i found this com late i'm off to watch ep. 2 already. life is sweet....
